I have mentioned before that I love Pinterest. What DIYer doesn’t? My dilemma this week is that I have a lot of throw pillows that definitely need updating. They are all bright colors and I’m going for a much more neutral look. I have sewn many a pillow covers in my day. I know how to do it and can whip them out in minutes. The only problem is that since the move, my sewing machine is buried somewhere in the forbidden room of doom…AKA the room that we piled everything that we didn’t know what to do with in.
With me being lazy, I wanted another option. So I go on Pinterest and look up some no-sew options for my pillows. I find this perfect option:
BINGO! I go to our nearest fabric store, err or Wal-Mart. I end up getting some awesome deals on three fabrics that I picked out. One was from the “extra fabric” bin therefore, discounted. The other two options I saved on simply because the girl that cut the fabric for me was being extremely helpful and generous with her fabric cutting. Thanks girl! I get home and I think that I’m going to whip out these pillow covers in seconds.
After about 30 minutes, I’m left scratching my head. WHY CAN’T I DO THIS?! I’m feeling a little lost. This is a freakin’ pillow case! Get it together, Katie! I later realized that some of my fabric is too thick.
So after this happened..
I figured I needed to find the sewing machine ASAP. Turns out, it took about 2 minutes to locate it and retrieve it from it’s hiding spot. After I got everything up and running, I turned the fabric into a pillow case in about 15 minutes. Now if only I hadn’t been so stubborn in the first place I would have had them ALL done by this point. *palm to face*
The moral of the story is that DIY projects will fail and when they do just try something different or admit the fact that you can’t make an “EASY” no-sew pillow case. Here are my after pillows that I am very pleased with. Stick with what you know, y’all.
