Spring Break and Inspirations

Construct, Design, Homestead, Interior / Monday, March 14th, 2016

Last week was Spring Break for me, while Evan continued to slave away at work. We can’t really fit a fun vacation into our schedule just yet, especially mid-week. Therefore, I took it upon myself to knock out another room in the house that was screaming for some updating…the “new” guest bedroom. In case you missed it, I flipped the guest bedroom and the office room due to future circumstances, you can see that post here.

I already painted and moved the office’s belongings into its new space. The guest bedroom was put on the back burner after I finished the office space just because we are both working full time and it’s just tiring to paint a wall…much less a room, baseboards and all. Once spring break came, I hit the ground running…literally finished the guest paint Monday morning when I had initially given myself all week to do this job. I’m just one of those people that when I decide that something needs to get done, it has to get done NOW. Like this very second.

The paint is the same as the rest of the house. I picked this color because it’s a good neutral and you can create so many different looks with it.

I don’t have any pictures just yet because it’s still a work in progress. This room is my experiment with the boho/rustic theme and I want it to be perfect. I want this room to be so cool that my husband will be more open to the boho style. We will see. So here are some of my inspirations for the room and the rest of the house with this particular style. Keep in mind, we can’t afford to buy new furniture or really anything for that matter. So I’m relying on the stuff that I already have, things that I can make, and things that I can paint.

As you can tell with these homes, it’s all in the accessories…many of which, I think I could make! Or at least come close. I can paint the pottery that I already have (or better yet, throw a pot or two on the wheel at work), we have lots of leftover wood from previous projects…I can do this. Now if only I could create a beautiful, classic rug for cheap. YEAH RIGHT.

Also, you HAVE to check out Vintage Revivals. Her style is so fearless and HER. You can practically see the shape of her personality in her home and her projects. I might not have the same style as her, but SHE is what I want to accomplish with our house…a home that is so uniquely US.
